A Life Built on the
Edge of a Disaster
Dr Stuart Robinson spells FAITH as R.I.S.K. — and defines it as "living in the midst of miracles, always on the edge of a disaster." It is an apt description of a ministry that has consistently put itself in places where, without God, failure was the only outcome.
He served as the founding pastor of Crossway Baptist Church in Melbourne — which grew to become Australia's largest Baptist congregation — before answering a call to leave that behind entirely and spend fourteen years in South Asia as a frontline missionary to one of the world's largest Unreached People Groups.
That people group had resisted two centuries of Christian witness with virtually no response. Dr Robinson and his colleagues saw unprecedented breakthroughs. The God of the impossible, as he describes it, fulfilled his promises.
He returned to lead, write, and speak — and has since addressed conferences, trained workers, and challenged church leaders across six continents. Each year he responds to invitations from around the world. His focus has never shifted: supernatural church growth, prayer, cross-cultural mission, discipleship, and the challenge of Islam.
The Question the
Church Cannot Avoid
Dr Robinson is widely regarded as one of the most respected Christian voices on Islam in the world today. His engagement with Islam is not academic distance — it comes from decades of living among Muslim people, studying Islamic primary texts, training Christian leaders in Muslim-majority contexts, and watching the Western church largely fail to reckon with one of the defining realities of our age.
His books on Islam — including the best-selling Mosques & Miracles, Defying Death, The Challenge of Islam, and Islam Rising — have been read by church leaders, politicians, academics, and policy makers across six continents. His latest work, Future History: The Rise and Demise of Islam or Christianity, represents the culmination of sixty years of scholarship and direct engagement.
His position is consistent and carefully stated: this is not a book about hating Muslims. It is a book about whether Christians — and the leaders of Western nations — still have the courage, truth, and love required to understand what they are facing, and respond wisely.
The Foundation
Beneath Everything
Alongside his work on Islam, Dr Robinson has spent decades writing and teaching on prayer — not as a devotional supplement to ministry but as its irreducible foundation. His books Prayer Power and The Prayer of Obedience are used in churches and leadership training programmes around the world.
His conviction is simple and tested: nothing of consequence happens without prayer and obedience. The evidence from history and from his own ministry bears this out. Whether in a Baptist megachurch in Melbourne or a house church in South Asia, the pattern has been consistent.
